I often worry that I don’t have enough new content. And I don’t think it’s just me. Just look at how many fashion seasons there are and how often trends change, how many new albums we expect from musical artists in order for them to stay relevant.
Except, I don’t believe that new is always better. Old books, work, art, music, fashion can be timeless and reused. And in this time when sustainability is so important, creating something new isn’t always the most ecologically friendly, nor is it always necessary.
I do believe that artists should always be practicing, honing, cultivating their crafts. And I believe that creating is part of that cultivation. But I also believe in sharing old work, wearing old clothing, and enjoying old music. It doesn’t have to be new to make a statement or to connect with a person.
It just has to be good.
